FCB delivers Early Intervention services for qualifying children at our Community Early Learning Partner sites.
Foothills Creative Beginnings (FCB) has been providing early childhood education for over 40 years. FCB partners with Alberta Education, community partners and families to provide early intervention for preschool and kindergarten aged children. FCB provides early intervention services to children in Calgary and surrounding areas.
The services we provide are based on the assessed needs of each child. The grants we receive from Alberta Education to provide services include the following categories:
Program Unit Funding (PUF) Supports children from two years-eight months to five-years-old (as of September 1) assessed with severe needs impacting a child’s ability to learn. PUF funding is available for a maximum of three years.
Mild/Moderate Funding (M/M) Supports children from three years-eight months to five-years-old (as of September 1) assessed with a mild/moderate delay. M/M funding is available for two years.
A full partnership with FCB includes spring screening and assessments by speech language pathologists and occupational therapists. We provide each partner site with an early learning coordinator (ELC) who is a certificated teacher. As directed by Alberta Education, the ELC leads the early intervention team serving your location. They oversee the coordination of therapy services and the development of an Individual Program Plan for each child who meets the Alberta Education qualifications for one of the grants. If the need is determined, some children qualifying for PUF, will be supported by an educational assistant (EA). FCB hires and supervises the EA. Your ELC ensures the programming offered in our partner sites is aligned with Alberta Education expectations for early childhood services.
