MEET THE Early Learning Educator

Rechelle Siganay

am a Filipino educator, married with two wonderful children, Kyla and Dwayne. I hold a Bachelor of Education and a Master’s degree in Educational Management from the Philippines. Before moving to Canada, I spent nine years working as a public elementary school teacher. After settling here, I continued my learning journey by studying to become an Educational Assistant.

Working with children has always been a refreshing and inspiring experience. Their curiosity, energy, and unpredictability make every day a unique adventure. Being surrounded by young minds constantly pushes me to stay creative and open‑minded. I find great fulfillment in knowing that I play a meaningful role in building the foundation of their early learning and development.

I am committed to creating a positive, nurturing, and inclusive environment for children and their families. Supporting them during these formative years is both an honour and a responsibility I take to heart.

What’s your favorite way to play? My favorite way to play is through creative arts. I love exploring colors, textures, and ideas — it’s where I feel most expressive and inspired.

Fun fact about me: During my spare time, I enjoy watching Chinese and Korean series, and I also love decorating or rearranging my home. It’s my way of relaxing and keeping my space feeling fresh and cozy.

MEET THE Early Learning Educator

Humaira Riaz

I am originally from Pakistan and moved to Canada in 2012. I hold a Master’s degree in Psychology from Pakistan, and in 2024 I completed my Early Childhood Education diploma from CDI College. I am now a Level 3 certified Early Childhood Educator with over five years of experience working with young children.

What drives me is my belief in the power of education. As an early childhood educator, I am passionate about creating an environment where young minds can grow, explore, and imagine. Becoming a mother has deepened my understanding of how children think, feel, and view the world, and it has strengthened my commitment to supporting their development. I chose this profession because I want to help create a nurturing, inclusive space where every child can thrive.

What’s your favorite way to play? My favourite way to play is by bringing creativity and art into learning. I love hands‑on activities, imaginative play, and encouraging artistic expression. I believe children develop important motor, cognitive, and problem‑solving skills when they explore their own ideas creatively and express themselves through art.

Fun fact about me: I can turn almost any everyday object into a creative learning tool for kids. Whether it’s transforming a piece of cardboard into a craft or turning a kitchen utensil into a musical instrument, I love finding new ways to create interactive, engaging experiences. I also love to bake — it has been a hobby of mine for years, and I enjoy trying new recipes and making delicious treats.

MEET THE Early Learning Educator

Shabnam Sunn

I moved to Canada in 2008 and bring over 23 years of experience working with children, including 11 years as a High School Chemistry teacher in India. I hold a Master’s degree in Chemistry, a Bachelor of Education, and I am a Level 3 certified Early Childhood Educator. I am also CPR and First Aid certified.

I am a reliable, caring, and organized educator with a deep passion for supporting children and families. I find immense joy in watching children learn, grow, and discover their abilities. I am confident in my ability to create a safe, nurturing, and engaging environment where children feel valued, respected, and encouraged to explore.

I am driven by the desire to contribute meaningfully to each child’s learning journey. I believe in helping children develop essential skills that set the foundation for future success. One of my key strengths is my ability to communicate effectively with both children and parents, ensuring they feel supported, understood, and cared for.

What’s your favorite way to play? I love joining children in whatever they’re doing. I switch off the “adult mode” and play right alongside them, making the experience fun, engaging, and meaningful. Being fully present in their world helps build trust and creates joyful learning moments.

Fun Fact About Me My name is Shabnam Sunn, and I speak three languages: English, Hindi, and Urdu. I love to cook and bake — cheesecake is my ultimate guilty pleasure. I also enjoy listening to music and find it incredibly relaxing. I’m an animal lover at heart, and my affection for pets comes from their unwavering loyalty, the joy they bring, and the simple yet profound bond we share.

MEET THE Early Learning Educator

Casey Humphreys

I am currently a Level 1 Early Childhood Educator, working toward my Level 2 and planning to continue my education to Level 3 and beyond. Before entering the ECE field, I spent five years teaching dance to children ages three and up. During that time, I discovered how much I love working with young minds — a realization that inspired me to pursue a career in early childhood education.

I am driven by a passion for fostering a love of learning through play, creativity, and curiosity. I believe every child is unique and deserves a child‑centered, holistic approach to learning. Every milestone — big or small — is meaningful and worth celebrating, because each step represents growth, confidence, and discovery.

My goal is to support children as they explore the world around them, helping them build the skills, joy, and resilience that will guide them throughout their lives.

What’s your favorite way to play? My favorite way to play is through music and dance! These activities help children build motor skills, express themselves, and explore their creativity in joyful, meaningful ways.

Fun Fact About Me I speak French — Bonjour!

I am inspired by the opportunity to create nourishing, flavorful meals made from fresh ingredients — meals that excite the senses, support healthy development, and introduce children to new tastes and experiences. Crafting food that brings comfort, joy, and curiosity to young learners is what motivates me every day.

What’s your favorite thing to cook? My favorite thing to cook is slow‑braised meat served with tortillas, beans, and fresh salsa — especially on the weekends.
